A poem to my cat!
To my beloved cat: A few words: __________________
As I am lying in the shade of the ancient tree Leaning my back to its silent wood, my fingers caressing the moist moss on its aging roots, An invisible green leaf floats down my face I sigh I smile I close my eyes And I die Like the last fallen leaf of an endless autumn. The sad echoes of the flowing water nearby Flutters the hairs on my hands and widens the Veins under my skin! My blood runs faster, singing with the sad water, With the maddening buzzing of cicadas, with a solitary sparrow nestled in the memory of a time that has not come yet. I sigh I smile I open my eyes And I die again Realising that it’s not an invisible leaf that has fallen on my face! It was your whisker my beloved cat! The last whisker! And it did not fall on my face! It fell on my heart like a sword slicing it into two hearts! One heart is for Death to strangle when my clock struck its last! And one is for you my sweet cat to keep you safe in there and Elude the shadow of Death! For I knew that you have left me forever! I sigh I cry I die killing my last sigh, my last cry!! The echoes of the sad water die away. The roots of the palm trees moans in the shadows of summer. Nothing is left but a single tear hanging sadly on my eyelashes Refusing to bow to gravity! And you my cat was that tear! I sigh I dream! I die the last death! Opens my arms, nothing is there But two handfuls of ashes! I scatter them into the sweating sun rays! I become that last sparrow! And into your green eyes I fly! For I know only there Death will not dare stare! Final wish: My your God transform my words into meows wherever you are my cat Caribbean Dream! 23/3/09
